This week, Ashfield Healthcare Communications welcomes its first intake of aspiring medical writers into its recently launched fast-track medical writing training programme, Allegro.
Allegro offers Associate Medical Writers the opportunity to undertake a personalised 12-month training and development programme as an initial step in building successful careers in healthcare communications. At the end of the programme, recruits will join one of Ashfield’s agency teams in the UK as a Medical Writer.
A total of 15 employees from a variety of academic and industry backgrounds have joined the Allegro team as part of the initial intake, and will spend their first week familiarising themselves with their new surroundings, getting to know each other and starting to understand the exciting and ever-changing world of healthcare comms.
Neil Marmont, Allegro’s Programme Director, said: “This is a new and exciting approach from Ashfield Healthcare Communications that aims to inspire and train the next generation of medical writers. The programme builds confidence and ability through personalised accelerated learning and will help us to foster a strong and capable talent pipeline to support the business and our customers moving forwards. The Allegro programme has been designed to ensure Ashfield continues to recruit the best talent available and provides the training they need to develop their skills and career.”
Allegro employee, Greg Rowe, said: “I am very excited to be involved in this new initiative and am very much looking forward to the opportunities ahead over the next 12 months. I have been interested in a career in healthcare comms for some time, and, as such, the Allegro programme seemed a great way to get into the industry. The focus on training and developing core writing and business skills should give me a solid foundation to become a successful Medical Writer.”
Ashfield Healthcare Communications aims to train up to 80 writers a year through the Allegro programme, with further intakes in April, June and September, continuing on an annual basis. Recruitment for the Allegro programme is via Assessment Centres, with the next ones planned for February 21st and 22nd (in order to identify candidates for the April intake).
